GIVE YOUR TIME TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED
Volunteers are the livelihood of our agency. Volunteers provide a variety of support, including teaching English as a second language, managing the food pantry, answering telephones, mentoring individuals in our programs. There are many ways to utilize your talents and skills to help.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
Prior to volunteering at Catholic Social Services, there are some things that we require (both for your safety and the safety of our clients).  All volunteers must:

  • attend a two-hour mandatory Abuse Prevention Training
  • undergo a background check

Once these steps have been taken, you can begin volunteering.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPENINGS
CSS always needs volunteers. Please consider sharing your talents with us. If you:

• can file, answer phones type, you can help our support staff.
• are interested in basic needs ie: food and furniture you can assist our basic needs coordinator.
• are interested in assisting families who are homeless you can become a mentor or help us recruit individuals from your parish who whould be interested in doing this ministry.
• are a retired teacher perhaps you would like to teach GED to our women At St Francis or St Clare's or Donovan House.
• speak another language Portuguese or Spanish perhaps you would like to teach citizenship to elders who can take the exam in their native language.
• are interested in immigration law, perhaps you coud assist our legal department.
• are a good organizer perhaps you want to help with our Christmas Program assiting our volunteer coordinator.
• are good with budgets perhaps you woud like to help our Advocates in dealing with idnividuals who are having financial difficulties.
