FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (FOR THOSE THAT QUALIFY)
We help many with their first and last month's rent payments in order to secure housing. In some cases, CSS also assists individuals/families with back rent (arrears). CSS evaluates each individual/family on a case-by-case basis. There are no guarantees of providing arrears or financial assistance; however CSS determines eligibility and works to serve client needs within the established guidelines. LANDLORD TENANT MEDIATION
Often, CSS serves as a mediator between tenants and landlords. CSS works with clients to understand their rights and responsibilities. CSS staff educate clients regarding the eviction process and provide information and recommendations to client regarding their own situation.
Often, individuals and families are at-risk for shut-offs. Advocates negotiate with utility companies to prevent shut-off and create affordable payment plans. When applying for financial assistance, CSS does a complete budget and financial analysis on your situation, and assist you in getting out from under your burdens.
ACCESS TO PUBLIC BENEFITS
CSS helps individuals/families who are eligible to apply for public benefits. CSS frequently works to access TAFDC, Food Stamps and SSI for those in need. CSS walks those served through this process and consults with local welfare agencies to ensure help is accessed.
