RESIDENTIAL SERVICES - QUALIFY AND GUIDELINES

THE APPLICATION PROCESS
All of our residential programs are not self-referal programs (i.e you cannot call and refer yourself to them). They need to be referred by, and qualified by an outside agency (for example, The Department of Transition Assistance), or our Basic Needs program. While our program managers and case managers don't mind fielding your questions, they cannot qualify individuals for programs without referring them first to Basic Needs. In addition each program has specific guidelines for entry, see the description of each invidual program for their guidelines.

QUALIFYING AND GUIDELINES
Our Permanent Residential Programs have two major qualification criteria. The first is you need to meet the federal definition of being "Homeless". Click me for that definition (coming soon). The Second is the the head of household must be a person with a disability. . Our case managers will work with you to get proof of these conditions, and other paperwork and qualification we need, before you will be allowed to enter the program. Additionally, these programs have criteria you must meet as you live in them, the ultimate goal of these programs is to get you out on your own, living independently again.

The two exceptions to the above qualification rules exist with our housing program for women who are leaving incarceration, and our program from women and families fleeing domestic violence, but those referral are all through the varying Sheriff's Departments we work with or the New Bedford Women's Center.
